Sustainable development was defined during the WCED in 1987 and has since then been a concept for planning. The concept sustainable development is ambiguous and does not say in what way a sustainable development is reached or what the effects are when it has successfully been implemented. Therefore different people and actors have different views on how to evaluate different factors linked to the definition and manage, or have the ambition to manage the forest landscapes in different ways. This gives rise to conflicts between actors in the landscapes. In attempts to solve the conflicts the actors can feel either limited or given the opportunity to act in the forest in their opinion on how to manage the forest sustainably. (Less)
