Purpose: This bachelor thesis aims to examine the process of strategic planning in a company
facing an expansion to the Chinese automotive industry.
Methodology: A study has been made from semi-structured interviews with a case company
and individuals with specific insight in the Chinese market that meets the requirements in
order to highlight the purpose of this thesis.
Theoretical perspectives: The theoretical base of this thesis consists mainly of theories
concerning strategic planning along with tools to analyze the competitive environment in the
Chinese market.
Empirical foundation: The case company is a medium-sized Swedish company with a market
leading product in the automotive industry, which is in the early stages of an expansion to the
Chinese market, as well as individuals with insight specifically in the Chinese market.
Conclusions: The study has primarily discovered decisions that not only are based on the
organization's own interest, but a multi-step process that also involves an analysis of their
customers' competitive situation. (Less)

strategiskt beslutsfattande samt analys av konkurrenssituationen på den Kinesiska marknaden.
Empiri: Studieobjektet är ett medelstort svenskt företag med en marknadsledande produkt,
som är i ett tidigt skede av en expansion till den Kinesiska marknaden samt individer med
inblick specifikt i Kina.
Resultat: Studien har främst uppdagat beslutsfattande som inte enbart utgår ifrån den egna
organisationens intresse, utan en flerstegsprocess som även innebär en analys av sina egna
kunders konkurrenssituation. (Less)
