Construction Management
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to investigate in what ways the safety work on site differs from the recommendations in the statutory regulations. The purpose is also to determine in what ways safety precautions are taken in order to avoid the hazards of falls from heights. Furthermore, the purpose of the study is to cast light on the level of knowledge that the construction workers possess regarding falls from heights.

Through literature reviews, clarify which statutory regulations are valid in a working environment where the hazard of falls from heights exists. Through the study of environmental work documents and case studies of different construction sites, determine what the actual safety measures against falls from heights look

Through the study of environmental work documents and case studies of different construction sites, determine what the actual safety measures against falls from heights look
like. All of the conducted case studies are based on a questionnaire answered by the construction workers, an indepth interview with the site manager and a protocol of visual observations noted about the work environment itself. All of the case studies were from construction sites owned by the building company NCC and amount to the empirical research for this dissertation. In addition, the working environment documents for the research were all supplied from within NCC’s internal organization.
A comparison and analysis between the gathered theoretical background and the empirical research will be made using the relevant questions as a starting point. (Less)
