Abstract
Due to high usage of fossil fuels the emissions of greenhouse gases has increased to dangerous levels during the last century. Something is needed to be done soon in order to reduce emissions and stabilize the climate. The transportation sector stands for a large part of these emissions and one way to reduce these could be to instead use electric vehicles. Unfortunately, today batteries limit the range of electric vehicles, discouraging potential buyers. If instead the vehicles could be charged while driving on major roads and only to use their batteries on minor roads, could this improve electric vehicles standing today?

If instead the vehicles could be charged while driving on major roads and only to use their batteries on minor roads, could this improve electric vehicles standing today?
Dan Zethraeus has designed a conductive electric road system which charges the vehicles batteries as it is driven on the road. In this thesis an advanced computer model has been created of that system and by changing certain parameters, the resulting scenarios can be analyzed. The main problem being analyzed is overheating in different environments and charging situations.
A life time analysis has also been conducted to investigate how impactful certain changes are on the life span of the system. (Less)
