Abstract
In March this year, 2017, the Swedish government launched a new national crime prevention program. This program and available statistics indicate a need for more work to be done in the field of crime prevention in Sweden. Therefore, this essay examines this field, narrowed down to focus on juvenile and situational delinquency. The situational aspect of the delinquency is based on the Routine activity theory.

The purpose of this essay is to find measures suitable for the preventive work against situational juvenile delinquency, to examine what people and the government think of the effectiveness of the measures and to try and determine whether the prerequisites, that must occur to enable that the measures become a form of new social... Therefore, this essay examines this field, narrowed down to focus on juvenile and situational delinquency. The situational aspect of the delinquency is based on the Routine activity theory.

The purpose of this essay is to find measures suitable for the preventive work against situational juvenile delinquency, to examine what people and the government think of the effectiveness of the measures and to try and determine whether the prerequisites, that must occur to enable that the measures become a form of new social norms, actually occur. To fulfill this purpose a method combination is used which includes a secondary analysis of the governmental program and a web-based questionnaire survey.

The results consist of three things. A list of 25 measures applicable to situational juvenile delinquency, a chart with mean values of the effectiveness of the measures according to the survey respondents and a qualitative comparison between the respondents’ and the government’s opinions about the effectiveness of the measures. Finally the results are analyzed in the work of determining whether the measures can become new social norms. The analyze is based on the model of norms. (Less)
