- Abstract
- The study aims to examine social workers within the foster care fields experiences of foster placements, and what methods that are used during the work with foster parents. In order to reach the results, social workers has been interviewed. The social workers described experiences quite similar to the previous research that was found. We also found that the respondents are working according to certain methods based on the attachment theory, ecological systems theory and systems theory. - The study aims to examine social workers within the foster care fields experiences of foster placements, and what methods that are used during the work with foster parents. In order to reach the results, social workers has been interviewed. The social workers described experiences quite similar to the previous research that was found. We also found that the respondents are working according to certain methods based on the attachment theory, ecological systems theory and systems theory. However, there were some differences between the social workers experiences in relation to the methods. The study has lead to a few conclusions, social workers within foster care has different opinions regarding the foster family and the foster childrens relation to their biological parents. Some social workers find it important for the childs well being while other find it harmful. The role of the foster family depends on the foster childs age as they have various needs. Another conclusion is that respondent works according to certain methods with foster parents, however we also found out that they have a theoretical thinking while using them. They find it important to interact with the foster family in order to work with the communication within the families, but their opinions about how often follow up is needed differs. (Less)
