- Many driving schools request cheap, safe alternatives to driving lessons. Some VR (Virtual Reality)
car simulators already exist today, but they are either too expensive or not adapted to the Swedish
trac system. The purpose of this master thesis has been to investigate whether a virtual environment
can be realistic enough for a driving school student to actually benet from using it.
To answer the question, a user-centered design process has been executed during 20 weeks. The end
product of this was a virtual environment, where users could use a car gaming rig and a VR headset
to drive a car in VR.

biggest problem. Other parts of the nal result showed that a VR simulator gives a higher presence
compared to classic car simulators where you drive with a 2D screen. Overall, you get more benets
than disadvantages from using a VR simulator. Therefore a driving school student can benet from
