En hastighetsstudie på sträckan Malmö-Stockholm

Abstract
The increased population in Sweden entails that the transport needs also increases. To increase the transport needs also a capacity improvement. The increased transport needs entails shall be in operation in year 2035. Due to the High-speed of the train, 320 km/h, the larger cities Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö receive a better connection as the commuter will reach the destination much faster. This report examines the will speed that is most appropriate on the different parts of the route between Stockholm and Malmö. The goal is to keep the journey time on 2 h and 30 minutes for a direct train but some stretches should be charged with a higher speed and other with a lower speed. This report examines the will speed that is most appropriate on the different parts of the route between Stockholm and Malmö. The goal is to keep the journey time on 2 h and 30 minutes for a direct train but some stretches should be charged with a higher speed and other with a lower speed. The main factors to an increase in price are tunnels and bridges, which means that a minimization of these constructions keeps the price down. The calculations were based on Siemens Velaro E that forming reference vehicle. An acceleration up to 380 km/h that directly is followed by a deceleration get the total distance 102 km. This shows how big distances is required to use the highest speed. With to small station distance it is not profitable to build high-speed railways. A comparative study of the reference vehicle was performed on vehicle types CRH380BL and Shinkansen N700. It results in Shinkansen N700 has a higher acceleration than Siemens Velaro E. The distance between Stockholm and Malmö will take 2 h 20 minutes and 30 seconds to travel with direct train, and 2 h and 36 minutes for trains with stops at Norrkoping, Jönköping, Hässleholm and Lund with Siemens Velaro E. Using the Shinkansen N700 results in 2 h and 18 minutes by direct train, and 2 h 32 minutes and 30 seconds by train with stops. The speed at 380 km/h will be most appropriate on the distance between Jönköping and Hässleholm. The route between Järna and Jönköping is charged of more curves and a rate drop is possible in several parts. The lowest speed on the route is 125 km/h during Norrkoping because a curve on 660 meter limits the speed. A graphical table was made to see what capacity the new high-speed rail was possible for. The graphical table shows that eleven trips every hour was possible. The departures consist of mixed traffic with five high-speed train and six interregional trains. The total distance of tunnels and bridges calculated to 82, 12 km, that gives a total cost on 33,5 billion SEK. After conducting this study, I think that a top speed on 320 km/h should be increased to 380 km/h because the distance between Hässleholm and Jönköping is capable of higher speeds because of the straight stretch. The distance between Järna and Jönköping curve radius and inclusions will put down the speed limit and without a top speed on 380 km/h between Jönköping and Hässleholm the total time exceeds the deadline time on 2 h and 30 minutes.
