Abstract
School tendency is the key to a successful life in today's society. It increases your chances, not only for a career and future higher education, but also for a happier life. School is the most important place to learn how to cooperate, interact socially and get a healthy social network. This is a system thousands of Swedish children gets into every year because of the school duty law that all children above the age of seven must attend school, if they don't have approved absence by the principal or the child is ill. School tendency is the key to a successful life in today's society. It increases your chances, not only for a career and future higher education, but also for a happier life. School is the most important place to learn how to cooperate, interact socially and get a healthy social network. This is a system thousands of Swedish children gets into every year because of the school duty law that all children above the age of seven must attend school, if they don't have approved absence by the principal or the child is ill. There are many reasons that makes it difficult for children attending school even though it is mandatory. The research to identify these reasons is ongoing and Malin Gren Landell has done a great work to start naming different kinds of absences from various factors to identify individual interventions for children. But with all of this new knowledge about why children are not attending school, it is interesting to analyze why there are so many children that almost daily attends school and goes through the system with no problem.
This study used interviews to see what factors and needs the principals and teachers in upper primary school described as important for children with high tendency. The study was executed in two different areas that where different according to the socio economic definition. The study aimed towards these two areas’ primary schools, with a focus on Gren Landells description of the social factors including family, friends and society ́s impact on school tendency.
The staff of the schools talked about the importance of pupils friends and their impact on each other concerning school tendency. The children's parents and families attitudes towards the children's school tendency is presented. The study also discovred a another relevant area which was the children's dreams and future prospects. Finally a discussion about what if the area of the school really affects the school tendency of the children and how it affects. (Less)
