Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out how a piano teacher can enrich or use digital tools in the framework of promoting his or her educational vision in piano education. The research method is a qualitative research interview where the selection of informants comprises four piano teachers active in Swedish music secondary schools with genre orientations in jazz, blues, rock and pop. The literature review defines the concept of digital tools and their role in education as well as the educational challenges it can bring. It also gives a more in-depth review of how digital tools can be used more specifically in piano teaching and how piano teachers can approach it. The results of the research interview show that the informants mainly see... (More)

It also gives a more in-depth review of how digital tools can be used more specifically in piano teaching and how piano teachers can approach it. The results of the research interview show that the informants mainly see the use of digital tools as a positive complement to their piano teaching. They also believe that digital tools can lead to certain problems when following up and checking if the piano students actually use the digital tools as recommended. The conclusion of the study is that digital tools can make a positive addition to piano lessons in the genres studied here. There are also unexplored opportunities to develop piano teaching of new learning dimensions using digital tools. Piano teachers in these genres should also have an open mind about piano students’ relationship towards digital tools and guide them in the digital “jungle”. (Less)
