ACT och fördomsfullhet - att förändra psykologisk flexibilitet och empati i grupp

Syftet med studien var att undersöka om ACT-träning i grupp (Acceptance and Commitment Training) kunde leda till ökad psykologisk flexibilitet och empati, och minskad fördomsfullhet. Social dominansorientering och ingruppsidenitifikation studerades också som eventuella moderatorer. Tidigare forskning pekar på en relation mellan psykologisk flexibilitet, empati och fördomsfullhet, men ACT som metod för att påverka dessa mekanismer har endast prövats ett fåtal gånger. Resultatet visar att ACT-träningen gav signifikant högre empati i experimentgruppen jämfört med kontrollgruppen i en split plot ANOVA. Ingen signifikant effekt uppmättes avseende psykologisk flexibilitet eller fördomsfullhet. Slutsatsen från denna studie är att psykoterapeutiska interventioner enligt ACT-träning kan användas för att öka empati hos en grupp. Det konstaterades att de effekter detta kan få på deltagares beteenden behöver vidare utforskas. All participants filled out pre- and post-evaluations regarding psychological flexibility, empathy, social dominance orientation, ingroup identification and prejudice. Results from a split plot ANOVA showed a significant increase in empathy among participants in the experimental group compared to the control group. No significant effects were measured in regard to psychological flexibility or prejudice. Conclusions from this study were that ACT-training can be used to improve empathy in groups. Which effects this might have on behaviors needs to be further examined. (Less)
