(2019) FEKH89 20182Department of Business Administration
- Abstract (Swedish)
(Less) - Abstract
- Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine what factors have a statistically significant impact on the payment method decision for Swedish corporate acquisitions.
Methodology: The study adopts a quantitative method with a statistical approach to determine and explain the payment method decision in corporate acquisitions.
Theoretical perspectives: This study is based on a theoretical framework that includes capital structure theory, pecking order theory and information asymmetry theory. The research model is based on previous research. Findings from previous research is also presented.
Empirical foundation: The observed sample consists of 132 deals that were completed by listed Swedish companies between 2010 and 2018. Financial... Empirical foundation: The observed sample consists of 132 deals that were completed by listed Swedish companies between 2010 and 2018. Financial data was collected from Zephyr, Datastream, Holdings and Retriever Business.
Conclusions: The study finds that cross border acquisitions, ownership structure, market to book and relative deal size are statistically significant determinants of payment method for Swedish acquirers. Inconsequential support is found for the pecking order theory. (Less)
