Theories on social mix and social sustainability are utilised, and the former has been operationalised to three indicators; mixed tenures, mixed housing sizes, and varied price levels.
The results show that while the municipality owns the main portion of the land i Brunnshög and thus are able to steer tenure mixing to a large extent, varied price levels have not been steered as much, and mixed housing sizes are instead steered indirectly through competitions and cooperation with developers. Owning land enables the municipality to influence housing development in a socially sustainable way, however it is often done through cooperation rather than explicit demands due to the delicate balance between making demands and attracting developers. Although Brunnshög will have certain components of a socially sustainable housing supply, the municipality does not currently utilise all of their possible influence to implement it. (Less)
