Abstract
The working life have changed due to higher demands, increased digitization and individualization. Therefore the purpose of this study was to investigate employees perceptions of the following concepts related to the new working life and potential correlational relationships amongst these constructs: Negative work life interference (negative WHI), Technology-assisted supplemental work (TASW), Job Demands, Decision Latitude, Boundary Control and Job Performance-based self-esteem (job- PBSE). A quantitative study was performed to investigate correlations. In total 69 participants responded the survey. In the study five significant correlations were found. A quantitative study was performed to investigate correlations. In total 69 participants responded the survey. In the study five significant correlations were found. More specifically there were positive correlations between Job Demands and TASW, between Job Demands and job-PBSE and between Job-PBSE and negative WHI. Significant negative correlations were found between Job Demands and Boundary Control and between Boundary Control and negative WHI. No significant correlations were found between TASW and negative WHI nor TASW and job-PBSE which was the opposite of what we expected. It was concluded that participants perceived low negative WHI and high boundary control which suggests knowledge workers can handle boundaries between work and private life even though they to moderate extent perform TASW.
