Abstract (Swedish)
Information samlades in via semistrukturerade intervjuer. För att systematisera och dra slutsatser från... (More)

Information samlades in via semistrukturerade intervjuer. Abstract
Agile principles are increasingly adopted by organizations in various industries as information and communication technologies evolve. However, little is known about aspects of the employee experience within the agile organizational structure. The aim of this study was to contribute with an in-depth understanding of how agile organizational structure can be experienced. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six “Scrum Masters” in a Swedish based company within a global complex matrix organization in order to systematize experiences of agile work, process and implementation within the software sector. To systemize and draw conclusions from the data, a thematic analysis was made. Four main themes were identified from the data:... (More)

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six “Scrum Masters” in a Swedish based company within a global complex matrix organization in order to systematize experiences of agile work, process and implementation within the software sector. To systemize and draw conclusions from the data, a thematic analysis was made. Four main themes were identified from the data: Prioritizing the team, Agile mindset: the key to success, Establishing the professional role and Gemba – where value begins. The result is consistent with previous research about organizational change, which implies that unified teams facilitate more effective communication strategies, which influence an effective production process in relation to productivity as well as quality. Agile organizations seem to continuously prioritize the team in relation to the individual. However, the importance of acknowledging the individual in order to optimize motivational factors in the daily workgroup collaboration should be recognized. The implementation of agile organizational structure could be made more efficient by clarifying conceptual differences, for example by differentiating agile methodologies from agile mindset. (Less)
