- Abstract
- In this thesis, the relationship between democracy and biodiversity is examined by conducting a co-variational analysis using the cases of Colombia and Venezuela.
Building on the foundation of previous studies, this thesis uses threatened species as a proxy for biodiversity to a greater extent than has been done previously.
By analysing the results of the study, this thesis have been able to conclude that level of democracy does have an impact on level of biodiversity. Because of the nature of the cases however, the exact kind of effect has been harder to define in general terms. Instead it can be concluded that while more democratic than Venezuela, Colombia is not yet democratic enough to be able to successfully implement measures to...
