- Almost two decades ago, Richard Florida published the first version of ‘The Rise Of The Creative Class’ and since then several cities in Sweden have implemented his ideas in the hope of bringing growth to the city. This study aims to investigate how Florida’s ideas can be found within the municipal planning of two sub-areas of Malmö, Hyllie, and Norra Sorgenfri. Furthermore, this case study was based on three central themes within Florida's conceptual framework that makes up the quality of place: attractive meeting points, experiences, and tolerance/diversity. The interviews and documents were then analyzed through a content analysis based on the three themes. The analysis shows that parts of Florida’s ideas can be linked to the planning of the two sub-areas, however, there are also contradictions and parts of the planning that do not match with his ideas. Additionally, it appears that there is a stronger connection between Florida and the planning of Norra Sorgenfri than in the planning of Hyllie (Less)
