Abstract
This paper is a study in the field of urban planning and climate adaptation measures in the City of Stockholm (Stockholms stad). It explores the questions of what kinds of climate adaptation the city implements and how climate adaptation can be discussed in terms of resilience and green growth. These questions have been examined through a combination of qualitative methods – a document analysis consisting of five documents and one interview with a representative from the City of Stockholm. This resulted in the study of three specific projects in the city, each connected to a specific method of adaptation. Ecosystem-based adaptation has been examined through the project of Norra Djurgårdsstaden, infrastructural adaptation through the... (More)
This paper is a study in the field of urban planning and climate adaptation measures in the City of Stockholm (Stockholms stad). Ecosystem-based adaptation has been examined through the project of Norra Djurgårdsstaden, infrastructural adaptation through the project of Nya Slussen and knowledge- or research-based adaptation through EO4GEOs webinar project with UHI in southern Stockholm. The material derived has then been reviewed through the lens of resilience and green growth in the city. The findings have shown a focus within the city to work with adaptation in regard to water and heat questions, varying in size and priority in the city there are different levels at which the strategies can be connected to theories of resilience and green growth. The city wants to prioritize climate adaptation through a cost- and time effective method, which oftentimes is a question of knowledge and resources within the city. (Less)
