Pågatåg och pandemi - vilka åtgärder är relevanta för att få kollektivtrafiken i Skåne på rätt spår igen?

- Abstract
- This paper examines the state of public transportation in the swedish county of Scania during the
Covid-19 pandemic. Through travel statistics from the agency that runs the county’s transit
network (Skånetrafiken) it is concluded that travel numbers have decreased dramatically during
the pandemic. Two employees at Skånetrafiken are interviewed and asked about what measures
the agency has taken during the pandemic and how they view the role of public transit in Scania
in the post-covid era. These measures and plans are then discussed and compared to literature on
how public transit is best conducted. In the paper it is concluded that Skånetrafiken might have

how public transit is best conducted. In the paper it is concluded that Skånetrafiken might have
to diminish supply (which they to some degree already have) to keep up with costs and with the
help of the literature it is established that this could have negative effects on ridership. However
there are also measures being taken by the agency that are relevant according to the literature.
These include among other things: actions that have already been taken such as new ticket
options and an app that estimates congestion on board, but also plans for the future where free
trials will be given to people that stopped using public transport during the pandemic and early
plans on using ticket pricing as a way to minimize congestion. Finally the paper also analyses a
study on the future of remote work in Scania and relates the results to public transit post-covid. It
is concluded that the possible effects won’t be of any big significance (Less)
