Abstract
My thesis is about how to define the concept of the preschool
library and in what way it differs from other reading promotion
and language development activities in preschool. Furthermore, I
investigate how the preschool could work with preschool libraries
as a long-term and permanent solution in the reading promotion
and language development assignment in preschool. The question
of why the preschool library should be integrated into the

how all informants related to the work with reading in preschool
and their attitude to legitimizing the preschool library as a
concept in preschool, and the preschools library being regulated
by law - in the same way as the school library. The advantages
and disadvantages of such a statue were discussed and where the
vast majority actually took a negative view of such a decision.
Aspects such as financial and resource-intensive parts and the
disadvantage of "forcing" the preschools on further steps and
above all in a time of staff shortages and large groups of children
were some of the opinions that was identified. Furthermore the
need for competence development in general regarding reading
aloud, how to encourage parents and guardians to read at home
and in some cases, the need for guidelines and framework, was
emphasized. (Less)
