According to the results of this study, the social environment tends to be strongly affected by an individual ́s problematic gambling behaviour. In addition, gamblers are prone to experience shame and stigma related to their problematic gambling. During the Covid-19-pandemic, individuals are more isolated than before which according to the interviewees has led to increased levels of psychological distress, gamblers included. However, gamblers have the opportunity to satisfy their needs in terms of gambling despite isolating themselves from their social environment, this through online gambling which according to the interviewees also has increased. Within the support organizations, the interviewees account for a transition from previously offering physical meetings to solely offering digital meetings to the help-seekers. Although the interviewees state that the support organizations have received an increased amount of help-seekers participating during the digital meetings, the interviewees also account for a decrease among the elderly help-seekers. Furthermore, some interviewees give prominence to the loss of a social context which the former physical meetings have provided for the help-seekers. (Less)
