- Abstract (Swedish)
- Aim: The purpose of the work is to compare construction methods of timber framing and stud framing from the aspects of time, cost, material consumption, construction methods, competence and design. The questions asked were:
Research questions: How does a house built with the timber frame method differ from an equivalent house built with the stud framing method?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of timber frame houses compared to stud framing houses?
Method: The research has been carried out using a qualitative research method where four people have been interviewed who have experience in various ways about either the stud frame or the timber frame method. Research questions: How does a house built with the timber frame method differ from an equivalent house built with the stud framing method?

Method: The research has been carried out using a qualitative research method where four people have been interviewed who have experience in various ways about either the stud frame or the timber frame method. A literature study has also been carried out, as well as a comparison of two existing houses, a timber frame and a stud frame where material consumption and cost have been studied per square meter.
Findings: The result shows the advantages and disadvantages of the timber frame and stud framing method respectively. It shows that both construction methods are equal in cost and time. Which approaches you choose to build each method on is what has disturbed the impact on cost and time consumption. The study shows that a major reason for building a timber-framed house has to do with the design. It is also seen that the timber frame method is more difficult to build and places higher demands on the craftsman than what a stud framing method does. When comparing the two existing houses, the timber-framed house has a significantly better insulation capacity even though it consumes less material than the stud-framed house per square meter.
