Abstract (Swedish)
Entrepreneurship education is becoming ever more popular, especially at Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM), due to entrepreneurship being important to job generation and a source for economic growth and development. Yet, the topic of how learnings from the program are applied in regards to subsequent careers is unexplored as current research mostly highlights what entrepreneurship education entails in general and what learnings can be gained. This thesis aims to recognize how graduates from entrepreneurship programs apply different learnings in their subsequent careers by comparing two career occupations; new venture career occupation and corporate career occupation. An abductive approach was chosen as semi- structured interviews with 5 graduates from each career path were conducted and thereafter analyzed. The interviews are analyzed together with the learning outcomes from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation master program at LUSEM and already published literature on the topic. From this, the results indicate that there are many different ways in which learnings are applied in subsequent occupations. Findings also show some similarities in how learnings are applied irrespective of the occupation, however also differences of the learnings applied between pursuing a new venture career and a corporate career. Therefore, this thesis suggests that future research on entrepreneurship programs should: (1) take a new qualitative approach that compares findings to this study to strengthen arguments for how learnings are applied; (2) take a quantitative approach in order to gain a higher level of accuracy and a new perspective; (3) examine how graduates from one track of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation master program at LUSEM apply their learnings in subsequent careers.
