- Abstract

With the help of Jönson's (2010) perspective analysis and a social constructionist approach, I analyze how the projects construct long-term unemployment as a social problem. With inspiration from Jönson's (2010) analysis scheme, I have been able to identify various problem components in the material examined. Based on the concepts of claims and claimsmaking (Best 2017, Loseke 2003), material from the projects is analyzed to enable an explanation. The question of the essay is: How is long-term unemployment constructed as a social problem in the City of Malmö's project TAMU Malmö and the Hela Familjen 2.0? Due to limitations in the material, regarding the extent and divisions among the matieral, the analysis has certain weaknesses that cannot be explained away. The analysis shows that long-term unemployment is constructed as a social problem by focusing on the individual's own choices and inability to solve their situation on their own. The social workers and work and career leaders within the projects are constructed as rescuers and experts who can help the participants from their situation. (Less)
