I have interviewed three professionals working for two different organizations, Cafe David and Crossroads. I have analysed my data using Yeheskel Hasenfeld theory of human service organizations. The results of this study shows that the organizations had to undergo alterations in order to stay open. The organizations must be creative and find new ways of functioning in order to continue their work, in accordance with Hasenfelds theory. The Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions it implies acts as an external stress for the organizations. The professionals' new ways of working includes information on how to get to another country and what restrictions that country has. The organizations have also needed to form new partnerships with actors such as the social services and the social emergency service, which is also part of a new way of working. I have also investigated how the homeless people have been affected by the pandemic. The results show that the client-helper relationship has been central to the homeless. Professionals report that the homeless express having feelings of depression, anxiety, loneliness and financial frustration and because the staff works hard to build relationships with their visitors and they seek to help them confront these feelings.
