This study is based on a qualitative method and the empirical part is characterized by thematic document analysis in to answer the research questions. Two themes emerged: trust and response measures. The research questions used are: What challenges have the National Board of Health and Welfare, MPF, and MSB identified in connection with the disinformation campaign against the social services? What concrete measures have the National Board of Health and Welfare, MPF, and MSB proposed in connection with the campaign? The complexity of the disinformation campaign against the social services is partly because the social services were perceived as an authority. The study shows that challenges have occurred and have also been identified by the authorities. One of the challenges identified and a contributing factor to why the disinformation campaign against the social services gained traction in Sweden is the lack of trust in authorities. The study also showed that strengthening trust in the public sector and working towards increased confidence in the social services underlie several of the proposed measures, such as ongoing dialogues with municipalities, faith communities, organizations in civil society and others.
