Abstract
Intelligence tests are frequently used in recruitment contexts since these tests have shown to be a strong predictor when it comes to future work performance. Therefore, it is not uncommon for job seekers to take these tests on several occasions throughout their careers with scores fluctuating to some degree. The aim of the study was to investigate whether there is an improvement in the performance in intelligence tests after multiple exposures. The study was conducted with the use of three tests consisting of ten items of already existing items from cognitive tests which the participants (n = 162) filled out through an online survey, n = 52 completed all three tests. The results showed that there is a considerable improvement in... (More)

The study was conducted with the use of three tests consisting of ten items of already existing items from cognitive tests which the participants (n = 162) filled out through an online survey, n = 52 completed all three tests. The results showed that there is a considerable improvement in performance between the first and second test as well as the first and third test. However, no significant difference was shown for the second and third tests. From this result we could conclude that we were able to observe a test-retest effect on intelligence tests, however, the rate of improvement decreases over time. This is in line with previous research conducted within the field. From these results we argue that there is a point of having candidates complete practice-tests before taking their final intelligence test in a recruitment process. This could improve the reliability of the use of intelligence tests, by taking the practice effect into consideration. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
