Abstract
Mindfulness is not only relevant for enhancing humans’ well-being but also the well-being of our planet through pro-environmental behaviour. In recent years, this possible connection of mindfulness with pro-environmental behaviour has received increasing attention in research. I used Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, PsychInfo and PsychArticles via the EBSCO host to conduct a systematic literature research about the relationship between mindfulness and pro-environmental behaviour and its possible mediators. I identified 745 studies of which 35 were integrated in my review. For inclusion/exclusion criteria I adjusted the PICO form. A total of 32 studies indicated a positive or partly positive relationship between mindfulness and... (More)

A total of 32 studies indicated a positive or partly positive relationship between mindfulness and pro-environmental behaviour. Only three studies did not find a relation. Especially nature connectedness seemed to be a possible mediator of that relation. The identified studies used a range of different conceptualisations (definitions) and operationalisations (measures), making it challenging to compare results. There is a lack of longitudinal studies as well. (Less)
