- Against the backdrop of a divided academic debate on the potentials and pitfalls for temporary use of urban space, this essay aims to explore how Institut for (x) as a temporary use project has been able to maintain their use of Godsbanearealerne in Aarhus over a longer period of time. This has been done through interviews with representatives of Institut for (x) and Aarhus municipality, where the application of de Certau’s theory on tactics and strategies has shown how Institut for (x) has acted in order to make use of opportunities and withstand the pressures of conventional city development over the years. The study concludes by arguing that Institut for (x) ability to practice tactics and defensive strategies has made it possible for them to build networks and shift power balances which has been essential in the process of securing their use of the space for a longer period of time. - Denna studie tar avstamp i den tudelade akademiska debatten kring vilka potentialer och fallgropar det finns för tillfällig användning av stadens mellanrum, och har syftat till att undersöka hur Institut for (x) har lyckats upprätthålla sin tillfälliga användning av Godsbanearealerne i Aarhus över en längre tidsperiod. Genom intervjuer med representanter för Institut for (x) och Aarhus kommun, har de Certau’s teori kring taktiker och strategier tillämpats för att utforska hur Institut for (x) har agerat för att kunna ta tillvara på möjligheter och hantera de utmaningar som den konventionella stadsutvecklingen har fört med sig. - Denna studie tar avstamp i den tudelade akademiska debatten kring vilka potentialer och fallgropar det finns för tillfällig användning av stadens mellanrum, och har syftat till att undersöka hur Institut for (x) har lyckats upprätthålla sin tillfälliga användning av Godsbanearealerne i Aarhus över en längre tidsperiod. Genom intervjuer med representanter för Institut for (x) och Aarhus kommun, har de Certau’s teori kring taktiker och strategier tillämpats för att utforska hur Institut for (x) har agerat för att kunna ta tillvara på möjligheter och hantera de utmaningar som den konventionella stadsutvecklingen har fört med sig.
