- This study investigates the complex mechanisms that drive and facilitate a Sustainable Entrepreneurial Mindset. While existing literature highlights the importance of Sustainable Entrepreneurship in promoting sustainable change, it lacks a detailed understanding of the specific mechanisms behind this mindset. To address this gap, the study conducts semi-structured interviews with ten sustainable entrepreneurs in Sweden, alongside analyzing additional documents. The inductive research approach led to the development of a preliminary framework revealing three key mechanisms: Knowledge to Action Activation, Paradigm Shift Enablers, and Catalyzing Awareness. These mechanisms drive sustainable entrepreneurs who prioritize Balancing Present Needs with Future Welfare, Driving Societal Transformation, and Prioritizing Broader Impact. The integrative framework shows how these mechanisms interact with critical factors of the sustainable entrepreneur, forming continuous feedback loops that enhance sustainability efforts. This knowledge aids practitioners and researchers in understanding the cognitive processes of sustainable entrepreneurs, including their aspirations and action pathways, influencing entrepreneurial decision-making and societal well-being. Ultimately, insights from this study guide individuals and organizations towards sustainability, fostering positive change and creating lasting value for future generations. (Less)
