Abstract
This study was performed as a digital survey directed towards social work students at Lunds University in Lund and Helsingborg. The selected students were students who had performed or at the moment were performing their social work internships, which means students in the last three semesters (5-7) of the social work education. A total of 85 answered surveys were collected. The purpose of the study was to find out what the students' experience of being the observer in the social worker and client meeting was if the social workers' attitude toward clients differs from one client to another and if there's a difference in attitude towards clients whether you're a younger or an older social worker. The study concluded that the respondents... (More)

The study concluded that the respondents ages 18-29 find that younger social workers are more prone to be more accommodating to clients and to have a better attitude towards the clients. This fact could be discussed due to the fact of how the question was asked. By asking the question if younger or older social workers have a better attitude towards clients and not specifying the ages of what younger and older mean, it gives the respondent the interpretive priority of the words' meanings. Which by default gives the answers an unwanted margin of error. A majority of the respondents had a positive experience at their internship and most of the respondents had a positive experience with their social work supervisors. Some respondents answered that the social workers affected the clients negatively but mostly this was in correlation with the negative information given at the client meeting. The study concluded that the social worker's attitude towards the client matters, and it matters the most when it comes to situations when information is negative. In these cases, the social workers need to be even more positive in their attitude and treatment of the client. (Less)
