This book opens up only a few possible study directions instantiated by various examples taken from out modern times. Important it is to understand that Geert Hofstede’s cultural dimensions or Fons Trompenaars’s cultural categories are approximations, not axioms. Again, important is to understand the limitations imposed by essentialism, ethnocentricity, and nationalism. Of course, this doesn’t mean we have to dissolve our identities and become amorphous and brain-washed pseudo-beings. The point is to respect all species on the planet and strive to improve our human condition by being aware of Otherness. (Less)
