Introduction : wicked problems require transformative capabilities

Thomasson, Anna LU (2024) p.1-6
Abstract

Climate change, migration, social injustice and loss of biodiversity are all examples of wicked problems that society is facing. The complexity and boundary-spanning nature of wicked problems require not only new competencies and skills, but also a different mindset. The responsibility of higher education is to ensure that the young people we educate are equipped with the knowledge, competencies and capabilities needed to manage not only the societal challenges currently known, but also future challenges. In this chapter we describe how the Copenhagen Business School, through the development and implementation of a set of capabilities and competencies called the Nordic Nine, has shouldered this responsibility.
