Pervaporation-based hybrid processes: Technical and economic aspects in treating phenolic wastewater
(1999) International Congress on Membranes and Membrane Processes 1999 p.49-49- Abstract
- In this paper the feasibility of combining pervaporation with conventional processes such as adsorption and steam stripping in a hybrid process to recover phenol from waste water is analysed taking technical and economical aspects into account. Compared to stand alone units it is found that hybrid processes based on pervaporation and conventional units can be an economic alternative for the meeting of environmental standards. In the best option over 99 % of the phenol is recovered. Also the waste water discharge level of 5 ppm is met.
