I rörelse : politisk handling under 1800-talets första hälft

Nilsson, Fredrik LU (2000)
Abstract
A political movement is often discussed in terms of ideology and shared values. It is the ideas that are considered interesting, and it is the ideas that are thought to determine the action. While the intellectual content is subjected to profound analysis, the concept of movement is ignored and not problematized. In this dissertation, the ideological dimensions of the concept movement have been related to two dimensions of action. First, in the sense of logistics: people and commodities in movement over geographical distances of whatever length. Second, in the sense of emotionality: being moved, being swept along in the general enthusiasm and fascination exerted by symbols or public demonstrations. Based on the tripartite sense of the... Based on the tripartite sense of the concept of movement, the aim is to investigate how marginal groups are formed as political collectives. This is done through a comparative study in which the farmhands´ protests in Skåne 1811 are contrasted with the young student movement, Scandinavianism, that emerged in Lund, Copenhagen, and Uppsala in the mid-nineteenth century. Popular Abstract in Swedish
