The Strong Interaction in e+ e- Annihilation and Deep Inelastic Scattering

Samuelsson, Jim (1996)
Abstract
Various aspects of the strong interaction are considered.

Correlation effects in the hadronization process in a string model are studied.

A discrete approximation scheme to the perturbative QCD cascade in e+ e- annihilation is formulated. The model, Discrete QCD, predicts a rather low phase space density of "effectlve gluons". This is related to the properties of the running coupling constant. It provides us with a simple tool for studies of the strong interaction. It is shown that it reproduces well-known properties of partonic cascades.

A discrete approximation scheme to the perturbative QCD cascade in e+ e- annihilation is formulated. It provides us with a simple tool for studies of the strong interaction. It is shown that it reproduces well-known properties of partonic cascades.

A new formalism for the DIS process is developed. The model which is called the Linked Dipole Chain Model provides an interpolation between regions of high Q2 (DGLAP) and low x-moderate Q2 (BFKL). It gives a unified treatment of the different interaction channels in a DIS process. (Less)
