Evaporative resistance measurements on a new solution of foot orthosis

Abstract
The traditional orthosis are tight and allow minimal evaporation. A new prototype was designed. The thermal foot model tests were carried out at isothermal (Ts=Ta=34 °C) and non-isothermal (Ta=23 °C) conditions with relative humidity set to 17 and 41 %, respectively, and at air velocities of 0.25 (LVa) and 0.85 m/s (HVa). Evaporative resistance (Ret) was calculated based on foot model’s heat loss and mass loss. The total insulation of the new orthosis increased compared to the old one by 28 % and total resultant insulation by 17 % (LVa).
