MASW Characterisation of Conditions at Planned highway Expansions, Denmark
(2012) 18th European Meeting of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics of the Near Surface Geoscience Division of EAGE, Near Surface Geoscience 2012- Abstract
- There is an increasing demand for the application of geophysical methods in engineering projects like bridge construction, mining for building materials and road expansions. Geophysical methods offer reasonable resolution and in cost efficient results as compared with more traditional methods like drilling. Seismic surveying is one of the methods that provide information that can be compared with geotechnical parameters often considered for designing structures. This work presents the results of an application of Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) used to assist the mapping of sediments in relation to a road expansions in Denmark.
