- Functional coagulation analyses like Sonoclot and thromboelastography have not been evaluated during perioperative autotransfusion. We have prospectively studied three different transfusion regimes in 45 patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. Sonoclot coagulation analyses better correlated to both blood loss and dextran dosage than APTT and platelet count in the routine coagulation analyses. Functional coagulation analysis has a potential use in individualizing plasmasubstitution and thromboprophylaxis regimes during autotransfusion in THR. (Less)
