This licentiate study looks at the Nationalmuseum as a consecrating institution within the Swedish field of art between 1890 and 1920.

Nationalmuseum öppnades 1866 och var del av ett nationalistiskt färgat och normskapande projekt. Analysen av de som deltog i inköpsnämnds konsekrerande beslut under perioden 1890–1920 kring vilken svensk konst som skulle införlivas i museets samling är licentiatuppsatsens grund.
