Henry Diab talks with Ghalia Kabbani, author Ghalia Kabbani, was born in Syria and raised in Kuwait, and since 1994, she has lived in London. Ghalia has published three collections of short stories in 1992, 2003 and 2005. Her first novel The Mirror of Summer was published in Cairo in 1998, while the second novel Secrets and Lies was published in 2010. Ghalia Kabbani is a columnist for the newspaper Al-Hayat, and was elected in 2008 as a member of IPAF, the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (the Arabic version of the Booker) and she is a board member of Exiled Writers Ink in London.
