- The dissertation deals with the ideology of martyrdom of the Hebrew chronicles, written in response to the persecutions of the Jews in a number of German communities during the beginning of the First Crusade. Elements of this ideology is analysed in relation to earlier Jewish tradition as well as contemporary Christian theology of martyrdom
