Transformational Leadership

Blom, Martin LU orcid (2024) p.693-695
Abstract
Transformational leadership is a theory that has made a significant mark on the leadership research during the last four decades. The basic idea behind the theory is that leaders can transform their followers in ways that leads to improved organizational performance. By focusing on idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration leaders can transform followers to the better, which in turn leads to efforts above expectations, and improved organizational performance. However, the theory has been heavily criticized. The critique includes leader centrism, ideological overtones, tautological definitions and conceptual vagueness.
