Tactical patterns and their implications on fire fighting operations

Svensson, Stefan LU (2007) Interflam 2007 2. p.1567-1567
Abstract
Three different experimental series on tactical patterns were presented and the results were summarized, discussed and conclusions were drawn. In order to attain an efficient fire and rescue service, it is of vital importance that the effect of the work performed in relation to accidents and incidents are thoroughly investigated. For the purpose of investigating effect of various procedures, a tactical pattern was defined as a set of procedures initiated, coordinated and carried out during a fire fighting operation. The conclusions from the experiments included that fire fighting tactics can be experimentally investigated. Through such experiments basic tactical principals was identified and verified. In addition, the experiments... (More)

The conclusions from the experiments included that fire fighting tactics can be experimentally investigated. Through such experiments basic tactical principals was identified and verified. In addition, the experiments constituted a basis for further treatment of command and control problems. Also, based on this work, developing of mathematical models for fire fighting operations was suggested. (Less)
