Abstract
Thorybothrips unicolor (Schille) and Tmetothrips subapterus (Haliday) have been recorded for the first time in Sweden, and the former is also new to the Nordic countries. Thrips dilatatus Uzel, Bolothrips icarus (Uzel) and Haplothrips acanthoscelis Karny are furthermore reported for the first time from the province of Öland. The rarest of the reported species are T. unicolor, which is included in the polish Red List as critically endangered (CR). Notes of distribution in northern Europe and in the Swedish provinces as well as host plants are provided for all species.

Many of these new findings are from areas connected to Ölands steppe-like formation (the Alvar) on limestone bedrock, which is known for its interesting diversity of insects. In recent years thrips have been collected by using malaise traps, sifting and sweeping in these areas, which has led to new insights into the Swedish Thysanoptera fauna. (Less)
