The platformisation of modern family life: young children’s television practices
(2025) In Critical Studies in Television- Abstract
- The article contributes to the research of platformisation of everyday life and children’s television use by exploring how 0-3-year-olds’ television viewing on screen media is embedded in daily social practices of families in Sweden. The article examines the research questions: 1) What social practices are organised around young children’s television viewing on screen media? 2) How can these television practices be understood through the domestic processes of appropriation, objectification, and incorporation? With the research design - ‘A day in the life’ - the analysis explores the practices of play, practices of togetherness, meal practices, and practices of daily routine management.
