- The review of research shows that qualitative analysis of therapeutic experience can significantly deepen and enliven the understanding of psychotherapeutic process. Already accomplished studies identify subjectively important therapeutic changes, reveal how clients experience, recognize and weave the ongoing changes to their self-narratives and life stories. Furthermore, exploring subjective reflections on psychotherapy process, we can also get a grasp of significant therapeutic factors, to comprehend what aspects of therapeutic relationship are subjectively valued as healing. - The review of research shows that qualitative analysis of therapeutic experience can significantly deepen and enliven the understanding of psychotherapeutic process. Already accomplished studies identify subjectively important therapeutic changes, reveal how clients experience, recognize and weave the ongoing changes to their self-narratives and life stories. Furthermore, exploring subjective reflections on psychotherapy process, we can also get a grasp of significant therapeutic factors, to comprehend what aspects of therapeutic relationship are subjectively valued as healing. Similarities and discrepancies between qualitative and quantitative research results tend to highlight the importance of combining different strategies and perspectives on psychotherapy effectiveness. Considering the existing findings and blind spots of therapeutic process, attention needs to be paid to individual client’s factors, in order to explore the dynamics of clients’ motivation, involvement and expectations in therapy, to compare subjective experience of therapeutic successes and failures, and to analyze the passages of therapeutic impasses.
