Shrinkage of High-Performance Concrete.

- This paper outlines an experimental and numerical study on the effect of w/c, silica fume and age on shrinkage of High-Performance Concrete (HPC). Cylinders of 8 types of HPC were cast. Carbonation and water-losses were studied parallel. Internal relative humidity (RH) and strength were investigated on cubes from the same batches of HPC that was used in the studies of shrinkage. The results indicate well correlated relationships between shrinkage, w/c and RH. The type and amount of silica fume affected shrinkage. The study was performed in 1992-1998.
