Språkpolitikens väsen och vanskligheter
(2002) Språkpolitik p.231-244- Abstract
- Rational politics requires the ability to predict the future and to evaluate the possible effects of political decisions. The article evaluates various attempts to establish functional arguments for maximal linguistic differentiation and demonstrates the difficulties with such arguments. If there are no objective arguments, we have to rely on feelings, which leaves us with a politics based on power or terror instead of discussion. Should for instance the emotionally based egoism of a generation decide the linguistic future of its greatgrandchildren?
