Det gyllene seklet : vihuelamusik i 1500-talets Spanien

Abstract
The Golden Age and the music of the guitar’s predecessor, the vihuela, is here approached from the perspective of the performing musician. Apart from Luis Milán’s El maestro also the collections of other leading musicians and composers are presented.



A discussion of performance practice, notations and vihuela tunings based on thorough studies of first hand sources is coupled with rich examples from the vihuela repertoire.



The latter part of the study is devoted to the repertoire with original music in facsimile or transcriptions.
